The Puppy Training Manual

What should I name my female westie? Also, what books would u refer to me for training a puppy?
What are some cute names for a female westie, also what are some good books for me to read about training a puppy, and just a book about being an ideal owner…
Please and Thank You,
Shannon a.k.a. karma
Glad to see you’re doing lots of research for your new Westie.
Here’s a book by Dr Ian Dunbar, which he has provided free, about how to prepare for a pup. It’s called ‘Before You Get Your Puppy’…so, naturally, read it before you get your puppy.

Here’s a book on basic obedience training at home, by Jess Rollins:

And you should read about NILIF, which I think is essential in every dog’s life, from puppy to senior:

Also about socialisation of your pup, which if done right will ward off any behavioural problems like fearfulness or aggression in your dog:

Lastly, I must recommend that you and your Westie enroll in a puppy class. They will help you cover all the ground as a first time puppy owner – nutrition, exercise, toys, grooming, games, basic obedience and much more.
I know, it’s a lot of reading, but it will help you prepare well for the coming of your pup. If you can find them at your local library, borrow some books by Stanley Coren, Patricia McConnell, Karen Pryor and Ian Dunbar.
