Where Did We Get Our Puggles?

This is the number one question we get asked by our readers so I decided to write a post about it and make it public knowledge. We started by looking for breeders in North Carolina (our home state) in May of 2006 via newspapers, internet, references from friends, etc. We didn’t find many at that time, partially because the puggle was such a new breed then, but we finally came across the website of a breeder located in Roaring River, NC. Roaring River is located in Northwest North Carolina a little more than an hour North of Charlotte and about an hour west of Winston-Salem.

The website is www.healthypups.com

Upon first glance you will find that the website is a bit of a mess and loaded with text but there is a lot of good information there and the services, and puppies, that they provide are first class. The man in charge over there is Irvin and he is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and quick to help (you can find his contact info on the last page of his website). He introduced us to Duke, our first puggle, and we immediately fell in love.

Gracie, our second puggle, was a bit of a different story though. I was browsing through our local newspaper and randomly found a classified ad from a woman located in Wilmington, NC that had four puggle puppies for sale. It was just before the holiday season and I thought to myself, what better Christmas present for my wife, and Duke, than a new puggle puppy? It may have been a one-time thing though because I don’t think that she is still breeding puggles; maybe it was fate, lol.

If we can help to answer any other questions, feel free to use our contact form. Also if you have puggle breeder recommendations, leave a comment and let everyone know:)

Our family is looking for a puggle puppy to purchase. We live in the suburbs of Winston-Salem, NC and are having a hard time finding one. If you know of anyone who has some for sale, please contact me at the above email address. Thanks so much!

    Hi Julie,

Did you try the folks here?
    www.healthypups.com

They list a phone number on their website so you could call and inquire. I think they would be a good bet based on your location.

Hey there. My husband and I live on the Outer Banks of NC. We are looking really hard for a puggle breeder and keep hitting a wall. If you have any information that would help us find a little joy to call our own….that would be amazing. Thanks
    Addy

    Hi Addison

I don’t know of anyone on the coast that breeds puggles but you could always try the people at healthypups.com

Sorry I can’t be of more help.

This is such a nice blog! I wish I had found something like this in Dec. 2005 when I was in search of a puggle breeder.

My husband and I use Dakota Winds (www.dakotawinds.homestead.com) as our breeder, and we are proud parents of a simply beautiful, very healthy, now two year old puggle. We are located in Virginia, and Bruschi the Puggle arrived at our local airport in April 2006 when he was 8 weeks old.

The breeder focuses only on hybrid mixes of dogs, and continues to have some beautiful pups of all types. Bruschi was very healthy when he arrived, and housetraining was a cinch– a sign of a really good mother and very clean environment.
